Thursday, July 24 :: Jamaica

Hello! It has been a while since I've posted...just got back from an AMAZING vacation with my friend, Rut. (That's right, no kids!) We sailed with Carnival Cruises aboard the fun-ship Liberty and visited Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman Islands and Jamaica. Thankfully we avoided Hurricane Dolly, but were not able to escape the rolling waves. We didn't get sick on the ship, but I still feel like I'm on it, days later! There were about 3,600 on board and maybe 800 or so of us were booked with Inspiration Cruises, so we enjoyed concerts featuring singers Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Melinda Doolittle and comedian Jeff Allen~ they were cruising with their families, and we got to meet Michael, Melinda, Jeff and their families! We were also blessed to meet and talk with John & Beverly Sheasby who led the morning devotion services and had a wonderful message to share. I encourage you to check out their links by clicking on their names above!

Although I took my camera equipment, I only took it to Grand Cayman and Jamaica, so most of my pics from the trip will come from Rut. Here are a few with our new friends, Melissa and Kylie (from Australia), as we got to hold an iguana at Dolphin Cove in Jamaica.  Doesn't Melissa look thrilled??

Hey, mon, welcome to Jamaica!

Ling's Family

Last evening I had the opportunity to photograph my friend Ling, her parents and daughters at the Masonic Homes (Dan was working and had to miss the fun :-{  Ling's parents were visiting from California and she thought it would be nice to have some pictures of them with their granddaughters. It was the first time I have photographed at MH, and the setting is gorgeous! It didn't hurt that the girls are beautiful too...they were so easy to photograph...they have had some practice in recent years being photographed as flower girls and for their Chinese dance recitals. My favorites are the black and white photos.

Giving Back~ Organizations supported by Circle of Life Photography

In giving back, Circle of Life Photography's main goal is to help those experiencing extreme poverty and nourishing them with food, shelter and spiritual guidance. Education is a big part of helping people learn how to help themselves and change the downward spiral of poverty for a better future for themselves and their children. Locally, a more tangible way of giving back is through using my photography gifts to serve others who are experiencing crisis (see NILMDTS and Pillows of Love.)

Compassion International~ Haiti's Child Survival Project

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation (NILMDTS) gently provides a helping hand and a healing heart for families overcome by the grief and pain of the death of their newborn or infant. Offering gentle and beautiful photography services in a compassionate and sensitive manner is the heart of this organization. The soft, gentle heirloom photographs of these beautiful babies are an important part of the healing process. They allow families to honor and cherish their babies, and share the spirits of their lives. I am an active NILMDTS volunteer photographer for Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Lancaster Women & Babies Hospital.

Joni & Friends Family Retreat

I am honored to be a volunteer photographer at the Joni & Friends Family Retreat in the Poconos (Spruce Lake Retreat) for a week each summer (click here for past blog post.) Joni & Friends seeks to serve as a ministry of outreach to people with disabilities and their families across the US and around the world. Families from around the country attend Family Retreats seeking relaxation, encouragement and a time to strengthen their family.
